Excerpt from Ján Sudimák's book "German Shepherd - Simply Amazing"
"The word bitch is used derogatively when we want to insult someone, but in my opinion in the case of breeding, the word is not a swear word, it's a title. The concept was presented to me by an intelligent lady and I can only agree with her.
After all, isn´t that a heroic feat to bring up sometimes 10 or more puppies, to deliver them for long hours (especially if the owner feeds the mother intensively until the day of delivery), to massage and clean them, then to consume all the puppies' excrements, to stand the pain caused by sharp claws at nursing and at the age of three weeks also the pain of their sharp teeth.
To nurse such a reckless ''manchaft'', especially if the breeder is sloppy and wants to save money buying puppy food and/or the food for the female, leaves the female alone with her puppies up to 24 hours a day, may just take too much effort for her.
A look at a poor female and her bitten teats makes one amazed by the love she gives to her little torturers. In addition, exceptional mothers "clean up" after their offspring until the day of their leave.
I have seen the genesis of puppy breeding many times, not only in my own kennel, but also as a soldier in the kennel "z Pohraniční stráže", and later working as a breeding advisor. The number of situations I have described is just confirmation that the word bitch is a title and not a swear word." - Excerpt from Ján Sudimák's book "German Shepherd - Simply Amazing"
